
Brenda Charles-Edwards is a Seattle native. She grew up in the Central District and attended elementary, junior high and high schools in the area. She is a business owner and the founder and CEO of Black Orchid Notary. Brenda has been a Notary Public since 1992. Her expertise as a Notary provides her the opportunity to speak at churches, senior centers and nursing facilities about the importance of having a Power of Attorney, Health Care Directive, Wills, and how to help seniors maintain current identification. Brenda is a National Notary Association Ambassador for Washington State and was recognized as a 2017 Notary of the Year Honoree, and as a presenter for two workshops addressing elder financial fraud and abuse. Her peers nominated Brenda as an Honoree for Notary of the Year, a national award. Brenda is an AARP Fraud Presenter.
She was also previously appointed by the Mayor Ed Murray to the Mayor’s Council on African-American Elders. She is married to Reverend Paul Edwards, founder of Antioch Ministry.
